RCAF Pilot Officer Lewis Burpee, seen in middle of fellow dambusters, was from Ottawa. He was shot down over Gilze Rijen during the Dambuster raid during the Second World War. "The Dambusters" was a squadron formed to carry out a single special and dangerous mission using a specially developed "bouncing bomb" on German dams. More [...]
